Presented by Music SA in partnership with the City of Onkaparinga, Carclew Youth Arts, Noarlunga Arts Centre and Southern Junction, Southern Exposure’s aim is to showcase Adelaide’s finest bands, shine a light on the south’s hidden musical talent and provide a space for young emerging bands to earn their chops.
Southern Exposure has so far played host to a slew of fantastic local acts, with Like Kites, Heston Drop and Guilt Free helping to launch the project in May 2012. The projects June show saw Adelaide songbird Georgia Germein and local acoustic acts Til The Break and Navette perform to a packed room, solidifying that live music is very much loved down south. Southern Exposure has also been a keen advocate in providing volunteer opportunities and mentorship to those interested in working live events and the music industry, with Music SA students and southern volunteers alike gaining experience behind the scenes.
Southern Exposure’s third show is gearing up to be an awesome mash up of southern punk rock, featuring punk thrashers The Lizards, local rockers Exit and dirty punks No Parking. All Southern Exposure shows are drug and alcohol free events, with entry for each show a mere $5. All money raised will go back into providing opportunities for young emerging bands in the south.
