Forming in 2007, Adelaide’s INFILTRAITOR have established themselves as one of the best melodic death metal bands Australia has on offer. Combining heavy guitars and vocals with a striking synthesiser-produced melody, the band are refreshingly different from most other metal bands in the country.  2013 is a big year for Infiltraitor, with not only some huge live shows to look forward to, including an international support, but next month they will release their debut album, ‘Severance.’

Earlier this year, Infiltraitor were part of the massive New Dead Metal Fest line-up playing alongside some of their favourite Australian acts. “It’s huge this year”, said vocalist, Kyle Bloksgaard, at the time. “New Dead gives us a chance to play with some bands we probably wouldn’t otherwise, it means we get to see great bands like The Amenta, and Ne Obliviscaris, and we get to play with legends Truth Corroded [Truth Corroded unfortunately had to pull out]. It’s huge and we’re really excited to be on that show.”

New Dead Metal Fest was a great success, and for many punters it was their first time seeing Infiltraitor live. “We’re an energetic live band,” Bloksgaard says. “We try and make our shows fun.” In exciting news for melodic metal lovers, the band will be brining that energy to the stage when they support Sweden’s Soilwork in October, something Bloksgaard and the rest of the band are looking forward to. “We’re obviously influenced a lot by Soilwork, so it’s incredible having the chance to support them on their Adelaide show. They’ve been a huge inspiration for us as a band, that’s going to be a huge show, we can’t wait.”

In the meantime, Infiltraitor will be launching their album ‘Severance’ with a show at Enigma Bar on August 10th, featuring Arcadia, Closed Casket, Alkira, and Strength of a Bear.

‘Severance’ will be released through Truth Inc Records on August 2nd. The album has been mixed and mastered by the renowned king of melodic death metal Fredrik Nordstrom who has worked with bands such as IN FLAMES, SOILWORK and DIMMU BORGIR.

To introduce a taste of whats to come INFILTRAITOR have unleashed a lyric video for the title song ‘SEVERANCE’

Picture
Over the last ten years, The Amity Affliction have become one of Australia’s most respected and beloved bands. Armed with a party attitude and a staunch work ethic, they have emerged as leaders in the Australian hardcore scene.

Their last album Chasing Ghosts comfortably claimed #1 spot on the Australian ARIA album chart upon debut, is now certified gold and continuing to amass the adoration of the public as the band tour relentlessly in its honour.

Currently enduring the marathon event of the US summer, Vans Warped Tour, Amity will return to home shores this October to share the stage with UK’s metalcore guns Chelsea Grin, Orange County melodic hardcore gurus Stick To Your Guns, as well as local up-and-comers In Hearts Wake.

Brothers In Arms is an apt title for the upcoming tour; their biggest local lap to date. Not only is it taken from Greens Ave, the next single from the Chasing Ghosts album, it’s also the perfect way to capture the spirit and strength of the bonds formed between touring bands and the sentiment behind bringing quality international acts to Australian shores. “So Brothers In Arms/ Lets march home towards calm/ towards oceans and shorelines/ With open arms”...

The Amity Affliction will hit the stage at Thebarton Theatre on Friday the 25th of October. You can buy tickets HERE

Muse and Birds Of Tokyo touring Oz together!

The Frontier Touring Company are thrilled to confirm that Muse, the band voted Best Act In The World Today at 2012’s Q Awards, will be returning to Australia this summer for a run of electrifying arena shows.

A long way from their humble roots as a Devon-born band of school friends, Muse has now sold more than 15 million copies of their six phenomenal studio albums worldwide and have 7 MTV Awards, 2 Brit Awards, 9 NME Awards, 6 Q Awards, 4 Kerrang Awards and winner of the Best Rock Album Grammy 2011 to their name.

Muse’s Australian fan base has been with the band for every step of the way, from their first ever shows Down Under in 2000 playing two shows at a pub and an RSL on Australia’s East Coast to this year’s tour which will see them blasting their anthemic songs across arenas filled with adoring fans.

The love for Muse Down Under extends beyond their live show - the band has achieved Platinum status four times in Australia with their studio albums and their powerful track ‘Knights of Cydonia’, taken from their Mercury Prize nominated album Black Holes and Revelations, took the top spot in 2007’s triple j’s Hottest 100 and reached #18 in the station’s Hottest 100 of All Time poll.

The 2nd Law (out now through Warner Music) marks Muse’s sixth offering from the studio and both celebrates and expands on the guitar shredding, piano-thumping, big-thinking sound that the band is acclaimed for.

The band cite inspirations ranging from classical composers Rachmaninoff and Berlioz, to legendary Hollywood composers Hans Zimmer and John Williams, to the soundtracks of epic sci-fi films as influential figures in the creation of the album. The influence of these lush and cinematic sounds can clearly be heard in the orchestral soundscapes found in The 2nd Law.

‘Contemporary rock’s most ambitious and exciting trio…Muse are superstars’ – The Daily Telegraph
‘The greatest, most ridiculously enjoyable rock band in the world’ - NME
‘They’ve emerged with all guns blazing. A high watermark in their creative ambition’ - Q
‘This is a band at the peak of their powers’ - GQ
‘The Muse boys are out of this world’ - The Sun

Stepping outside the box for their sixth release, the band forayed into experimental instrumentation including the sound of lead singer Matt Bellamy’s at-the-time unborn son’s heartbeat on the track ‘Follow Me’ and a sample of bellowing Wall Street stockbrokers on the song ‘Animals’.

Joining Muse as special guest for all show dates on their Australian tour will be home-grown rock icons Birds Of Tokyo. The band’s insistent, bittersweet, rock sounds have resonated deeply with both fans and critics, putting their anthemic songs across the airwaves, at the top of the charts and featured in ‘best of’ lists across the country.

Following two acclaimed albums, the indie band's self-titled third studio release spent over eight months in the Australian Top 20.  The double platinum album received the 2010 ARIA Award for 'Best Rock Album' and spawned hit singles, ‘Plans’ which ranked #4 in Triple J's Hottest 100 and 'Wild At Heart' which earned the band an APRA Songwriting Award.

In March this year, Birds of Tokyo released the highly anticipated follow-up to their breakthrough album.  Creating the new album, 'March Fires' was a journey of exploration and reinvention for the band. It's a story of burning down the old and coming together to build something new.  Spearheaded by the album's first two singles 'This Fire' and 'Lanterns', the band's fourth studio album 'March Fires' debuted at #1 on the National ARIA Album Chart - the band's first ever #1 record.  The album was certified gold within weeks of release and triple platinum single 'Lanterns' has become the most played song on Australian radio in the first six months of 2013.

Currently touring across Europe and the United Kingdom, Muse has brought their A-game with a stage show that includes 140 crew members, 26 equipment trucks and bomb-sized pyrotechnics.

‘The epithet “The Greatest Show on Earth” gets overused, but it’s hard to see where live rock can go from here. That Muse are having the time of their lives is obvious, it’s just a shame that they might now have killed stadium rock for everyone else.’- Q Magazine

This is Muse in their finest form yet and lucky Australian ticketholders will have the opportunity to hear these new songs in the forum they are meant to be performed in. Don’t miss the opportunity to see this once-in-a-lifetime event, tickets go on sale from 12noon local time on Monday 29 July.

It's been a pretty busy year for local lads Zen Stella!! with a Pozible campaign (successfully raising over half the funds to record), new line up additions, and the recording of their EP, I wonder if they've had time to scratch, don't you?

The Zen Stella line up is now complete as they welcome new drummer Todd James (you may have seen him in Adelaide favourite 'The Fak'), and Seb Hudson on guitar.

Front Man Ryan Lucivero says he welcomes the line up completion, and everything is sounding pretty tight! He also can not wait to get the EP released. He says the 5 track EP (produced by local James Chang) was an 'all hands on deck' experience, and alot of fun to record!

This comes through in the little sound cloud teaser we have for you to listen to! Spoiled or what?! I THINK SO!!!

Give it a listen HERE!

ASH announce Adelaide show date!

7/10/2013

Picture
Due to overwhelming demand, Irish punk pop trio Ash, have just announced more dates to their upcoming Australian tour. A 2nd and definitely final Melbourne show has been added at the Corner Hotel after selling out the first date in 10 days!!!  As well due to overwhelming fan demand shows in Adelaide and Perth have been added, their first since 2001!

Venturing back to Australia with a blast from their past’s past, Ash will perform their iconic debut album, 1977, in its entirety along with a second set of greatest hits and b-sides. Released in 1996, the album’s title is a nod to the era in which the band members were born and the year Star Wars arrived in cinemas.

Although 1977 has sold over 2 million copies worldwide and is included in the book 1001 Albums Yoy Must Hear Before You Die, it was written, recorded and released when most of the band were just 19. 1977 is a cinematic punk-pop soundtrack to binge drinking, chasing girls, youth and frustrated pubescent idealism moulding elements of power pop, glam rock, post-grunge and britpop into a loud, melodic and exuberant sound. The album tapped into the hearts, minds and hormones of a generation of like-minded teens who lapped up the five hit singles from the record, “Kung Fu”, “Girl From Mars”, “Angel Interceptor”, “Gold finger” and “Oh Yeah” - each of them charting in the Top 20 and earning Ash a reputation as the ultimate singles band. Reflecting on the record, Kerrang remarked "'1977' beamed with boisterous world-beating confidence and frighteningly precocious songwriting. Hit after honey-topped hit drip from the stereo, full of bombastic, brash choruses that still sound as tasty today as ever."

Ash previously performed 1977 in its entirety at the London Roundhouse in 2008, the show sold out in record time, leading to a second show being added to the famous, London Astoria, a venue the band held a five-night residency at when 1977 was first released. A review of the Roundhouse show in The Guardian observed “Still supple and mad for it, singer Tim Wheeler asked: "Do you feel like you've changed much since 1996? Because I don't." He hadn't played some of these songs in a decade, he added. That was hard to believe… After such a joyous visit to the past, nothing more was necessary, but we got it anyway: they encored with a dozen random tracks, from ancient B-sides to Motown covers. It was rather too much of a good thing, but who could have begrudged them?”

2013 will Australia’s first chance to hear 1977 performed in its entirety. It’ll be a chance for punters to re-live alcopop soaked youths during a time when Britpop ruled the airwaves and 1977’s Star Wars was about to be re-released. Oh Yeah!

Baby Animals are touring - 'This is not the end'!

7/8/2013

Picture
Hot off the success of their first studio album release in 20 years, This Is Not The End, and its Top 20 ARIA Album Chart debut, iconic Aussie rockers Baby Animals are thrilled to announce a new national Australian tour in 2013.

Presented by Social Family Records and The Harbour Agency, the “Feed The Birds” tour will begin in Newcastle on Saturday 12th October, followed by dates in Brisbane, Adelaide, Canberra, Geelong, Melbourne, Perth and Sydney.

Tickets are now on sale from various outlets listed below.

Fronted by Suzie DeMarchi, Baby Animals strike a familiar pose with guitarist Dave Leslie returning for action, Dario Bortolin on bass and Mick Skelton on drums. The “Feed The Birds” tour named after the infamous Baby Animals tradition of pouring red wine into the mouth of fans in the front row - from Suzie’s own!

"Feeding the birds? It's just us giving something back!” says Suzie DeMarchi.
The “Feed The Birds” tour follows a more intimate Baby Animals East Coast tour last

month to launch This Is Not The End and the band is raring to go again!
“We can't wait to hit the road and introduce more of our fans around the country to the

new album,” says Suzie.

Since exploding onto the scene in 1991 with the release of their first single, Early Warning, Baby Animals have become one of Australia’s most successful rock outfits. Their eponymous album spent six weeks at No. 1 in Australia, going eight times platinum and becoming the highest-selling debut Australian rock album until the release of Jet’s album 12 years later. The band toured internationally and struck up friendships with music legends Van Halen, Robert Plant, Paul Rodgers, and Bryan Adams.

This Is Not The End, the band’s first full-length release since 1993, marked a return to the charts. It made its debut at number 19 on the ARIA Album Chart and number three on the Australian Album Chart when released last month.

Baby Animals’ special guest on the “Feed The Birds” tour is Steve Balbi. Steve played bass in the hit-making Australian band Noiseworks, which produced four Australian top ten albums. He went on to form psychedelic pop group Electric Hippies with Noiseworks bandmate, Justin Stanley.

This Is Not The End is available now from iTunes and signed copies at http://thebabyanimals.com
