CORPUS, the two-piece punk enigma from Sydney’s west are quickly becoming known amongst their clandestine followers for pushing the limits of what a pair of dudes can do with just drums, a guitar and two voices and known for their incredibly hard-hitting and emotional performances, bundled with intelligent lyrics.

2013 saw CORPUS tour extensively along the east and west coasts of Australia (with notable supports such us Anti-Flag, Deez Nuts, DZ Deathrays, Totally Unicorn and Tonight Alive) and scoring a spot at Vans Warped Tour in Coffs Harbour and Sydney. CORPUS will be performing at all shows except on Monday 25 August at 170 Russell, Melbourne.

BREAKAWAY, Sydney’s 5 piece rock band formed in 2012 were recently named ‘100 bands you need to know this year’ by Alternative Press.

2013 saw them completing two east coast tours and supporting acts such as Flyleaf (USA), Heroes For Hire, Kisschasy and Hands Like Houses to name a few. See BREAKAWAY perform on Saturday 23 August at UNSW Roundhouse, Sydney and Monday 25 August at 170 Russell, Melbourne.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Having just completed a massive sold out tour of the USA, TAKING BACK SUNDAY and THE USED have just re-defined the phrase “Co-Headline”.

It’s a rare occurrence when two heavyweights of any genre agree to tour together. One off shows in cities rapidly sold out and became two shows then multiple shows due to the overwhelming demand for tickets. Now it’s Australia’s turn to see THE USED and TAKING BACK SUNDAY performing full headline sets encompassing their entire career with Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne and Adelaide getting to witness firsthand what fans and critics alike have been raving about:

In New York – “Three sold out shows within a week will inevitably lead to high expectations. In a situation like that, a band has no choice but to deliver – and deliver big. The Used and Taking Back Sunday handled their co-headlining tour with all the ease and aplomb of seasoned vets.” – Property Of Zak

In Utah - “Fans showed up in every shape and form, even one on crutches!” – Salt Lake Magazine

In LA - “At the Hollywood Palladium, The Used and Taking Back Sunday performed to another sold out crowd. The packed house was filled with screaming fans” – The Examiner

In Toronto - “Toronto was swept with a wave of nostalgia with The Used and Taking Back Sunday's co-headlining tour taking the stage. The show was sold out…There was not one still body in the room.” – Pure Grain Audio

In Boston – “By the time everyone started to exit the venue, we were tired, sweaty, and aching for more.” – Performer Magazine

In San Diego – “There was no shortage of energy. On a side note, there was an earthquake that hit our venue, which is located in the basement level of the building. I don’t think anyone even noticed. We were too busy rocking out.” – Music Without Labels

In Milwaukee – “The crowd was amped, singing along…this show was definitely not a letdown, mixing an awesome setlist of old and new.”

Turning personal adversity into art is THE USED trademark. With 6 successful albums under their belt, they rein as true leaders in their genre including gold-certified release Self-Titled, platinum certified Maybe Memories and latest offering, Imaginary Enemy, their most spirited and vitally essential work of their career.

Selling millions of albums worldwide, TAKING BACK SUNDAY continue to deliver successful releases such as Tell Your Friends, Louder Now, New Again and latest sixth full-length release, Happiness Is. Happiness Is showcases a new musical and conceptual leap for a band of mainstream misfits.

Melbourne's dirty blues-rockers, The Velvets, are launching their 'Cold Souls & Heartless Dolls' EP in Adelaide on Friday 23rd and Saturday 24th of May. Friday night will be at Worldsend in the city with local two-piece blues-rock gods Filthy Lucre and Adelaide based groove maestros Escapism.

Saturday night is at Jetty Bar in Glenelg, and joining The Velvets will be the sex goddess-fronted Imogen Brave. With both shows being free of charge, a couple of nights of rock and roll mayhem shall ensue.

Driving guitar riffs, howling vocals and beastly drums is what to expect from The Velvets. Relatively new to the music scene, the lads have hit the ground running. They first released a double-A side in late 2012 (mixed and produced by The Delta Riggs' guitarist Alex Markwell) that was picked up by community radio stations such as PBS, RRR, SYN, 3MDR and many more. Their true strength is in their live performance, which is proven in the collection of shows and supports under their belt.  The Velvets have been heard supporting some great acts such as Georgia Fair, Kashmere Club and The Harlots, to name a few.

The 'Cold Souls & Heartless Dolls' EP was recorded at Collarts in South Melbourne where two of the lads attend university. This environment, coupled with creative input from Brett Woolford, gave the sound of this record a modern edge, whilst still being gritty enough to capture the frenetic live energy of the band.

With the release of the 'Cold Souls & Heartless Dolls' EP, The Velvets will get you groovin' and keep you movin' with their unique brand of rock and roll.

The EP can be heard here and streamed on Spotify. Worldsend is at 208 Hindley St, Adelaide. Jetty Bar is at 28 Jetty Road, Glenelg.

Ticket holders who are able to attend the rescheduled date need take no action, their existing ticket will remain valid and their location within the venue will remain unchanged.

Fans unable to attend the new shows are asked to secure a refund from their original point of purchase prior to 5pm (local time to the venue) on Friday 6 June, 2014.  Refunds can be secured through:

Festival Hall, Melbourne | Ticketmaster.com.au | 136 100

Entertainment Centre, Newcastle | Ticketek.com.au | 132 849

Riverstage, Brisbane | Ticketmaster.com.au | 136 100

Since emerging almost two years ago, the 17 year old’s achievements have been numerous and significant, thanks to a string of instant-classic singles (Royals, Tennis Court, Team) and a classy debut, Pure Heroine:  350 million+ Youtube views; record-breaking chart results around the world; a couple of Grammys and a Brit Award; and critical praise from everyone from Kanye to Bowie, to name but a few.

In Australia, the stats also reflect her enormous popularity:  three spots in the top 15 of the Hottest 100(including a #2 position for 'Royals’); 6 x Platinum recognition for Royals/The Love Club EP and 2 x Platinumfor Pure Heroine; over 16 million Spotify streams (making Royals the most streamed track in 2013); and an acclaimed spot on the 2014 Laneway Festival.

Lorde’s brand new show - which includes a killer light show and a few surprises along the way - has been attracting amazing reviews since it kicked off in the US this week.  All shows will be all-ages.

"Lorde exudes confidence about the vision she has for herself and she's clearly someone who wants to continually move forward instead of trotting out the hits and treating everything else as filler.” - Rolling Stone

“A sold-out crowd singing back more than just the hits makes a good argument that people care about what she has to say.” - Houston Press

“That vulnerable insight and ability to reach not only the roaring mass of youth at the foot of the stage, but also the more weathered souls scattered amid the sold-out room is arguably what has helped Lorde, thus far, stand apart from her Top 40 contemporaries.” - Dallas Fort Worth News

KASABIAN HEADING TO THEBBY IN AUGUST

5/3/2014

Picture
The distinct sound and integrity of Kasabian's fifth studio album defines the very essence of the band, their trademark sound distilled and re-packaged into one incredibly exciting, unique statement of intent.

’48:13’ is driven by the continuous evolution and musical experimentation of the band through their previous 4 albums, spanning a career which celebrates its 10th year with the release of this, their 5th album.

1st single Eez-eh is a relentless all-night tune, which will doubtlessly ignite at the shows.

‘Eez-Eh’ is far from being a serious take on the world’s issues though. Whilst we’ve grown used to Kasabian the rock stars, this is a rave-ready hint at a return to the electronic experimentation that characterized their self-titled debut album way back in 2004, while still retaining their swagger and keeping things tongue-in-cheek, cartoon-like and – most importantly – fun.’ NME

Rarely do bands such as Kasabian push the boundaries with each album and deliver stunning results with releases such as West Ryder Pauper Lunatic Asylum and Velociraptor!

They’re cocky, cool, and here to rule so bow down before the kings of indie rock swagger as they tour Australia throughout August.
