Filthy Lucre and Temple will be dominating the long weekend!

Hailed as one of Melbourne’s best live bands right now on the local scene, Temple is a fully loaded rock n roll arsenal ready to bring their blistering live show over the border to South Australia. Adelaide’s Filthy Lucre is high voltage blues rock best served with a shot of bourbon and a kick in the gums. Twisted Echidna Booking Agency is proud to bring these two incredible rock fueled bands together over the Queens Birthday long weekend, this June 2013 for a three night live show onslaught.

Fresh from the successful launch of their self titled EP just last month, Temple are keen to keep the festivities rolling and stamp their authority on the rock n roll scene, starting with Adelaide. Add to that Filthy Lucre’s escalation as a favourite on the local scene, this is a series of gigs to lock into your holiday party plans. Both bands are gearing up to tear it up in a different part of S.A each night of the long weekend, giving ample opportunity for music fans everywhere to haul themselves to a show.

It all kicks off at 9:00pm Friday June 7th at Worldsend, with support from dirty rock n rollers the Nicker Teens. Followed by a massive show 9:00pm Saturday June 8th at the Jetty Bar Glenelg, with support from garage esq psychedelic legends Jungle City. Both bands will then head south, performing from 7:00pm Sunday June 9th at Seaford Tav, with support from colossal heavy hitters Escapism. All three shows are 18+ and free entry.

Fleetwood Mac touring Australia in November/December

The legendary Fleetwood Mac, one of rock and roll’s most enduring bands, are set to bring their extraordinary show including exquisite harmonies, incomparable chemistry, sleek perfection and classic hits to Australia beginning November 10th in Sydney. The tour continues through November and December.

Fleetwood Mac’s spectacular two-hour-plus show reunites the multi-Grammy winning, Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductees on stage to deliver many of their classic and most beloved songs including ‘The Chain’, ‘Dreams’, ‘Second Hand News’, ‘Rhiannon’, ‘Sara’, ‘Gold Dust Woman’, ‘Tusk’, ‘Looking Out for Love’, ‘Don’t Stop’, ‘Go Your Own Way’... the list goes on.

Hoodoo Gurus are coming to The Gov this long weekend!!

Adelaide music fans were very disappointed recently when the Adelaide leg of the HOODOO GURUS Dig It Up! tour was cancelled. The tour's promoter, Feel Presents, nixed the show after deciding that ticket sales were too slow. While the Hoodoo Gurus had no influence over that decision (and having suffered losses themselves as a result of the cancellation), they immediately resolved to book a gig in Adelaide at the earliest opportunity.

Taking a cue from General MacArthur, the Gurus vowed to their Adelaide fans, "We shall return!”

The Gov is pleased to announce that the HOODOO GURUS will be making good on that pledge this coming Queen's Birthday long weekend. On Sunday 9 June the Hoodoo Gurus will be performing at The Gov, playing the many hits and highlights of their distinguished career, all done in their inimitable style.

Also performing with the Hoodoo Gurus at The Gov that night will be Sydney's legendary garage rockers, LIME SPIDERS, who only recently came out of retirement to take part in the Dig It Up! concert at Sydney’s Enmore Theatre. The Spiders went on stage that night with all guns blazing and fans around Australia have been clamoring for the opportunity to see them ever since.

A sculptor of musical sound with infinite creativity and technical mastery, and a career spanning three decades, more than 15 million album sales and three Grammy Awards; Steve Vai embodies the seamless, symbiotic union between man and guitar, bending sounds as much as audiences’ minds.

A regular on our shores as part of the incredible G3 line up, Vai will command the stage for well over two hours, joined by his band: Dave Weiner on guitar, Jeremy Colson on drums, Philip Bynoe on bass and Michael Arrom on keyboards.

Beginning at age 12, Steve Vai started taking lessons from Joe Satriani and by 18 he had begun his professional music career transcribing for, and eventually playing, recording and touring with, the legendary Frank Zappa. In 1984 Vai branched out on his own before joining Alcatrazz, David Lee Roth’s solo band and Whitesnake, quickly earning guitar superstar status and the #1 spot in guitar magazine polls.

1990 saw the release of Vai’s groundbreaking album ‘Passion and Warfare’. Drawing critical acclaim and commercial success, the album cemented Vai’s standing as one of the top guitarists in the world.

Vai’s prolific creativity has built an extensive discography of more than 60 albums featuring solo works, several musical contributions to film soundtracks including the theme to Bill & Ted’s Bogus Journey, as well as guesting on numerous albums by fellow artists. Parkway Drive celebrate 10 years with two shows at The Gov

Undisputed kings of Australian hardcore, PARKWAY DRIVE are set to commemorate 10 years of incredible achievements with a special anniversary tour this September heading to The Gov Sept 17 and 18 for two incredible shows.   

Turning 10 is yet another milestone in the career of the quintet, whoʼve set benchmark after benchmark since playing their first show at Byron Bay Youth Activity Centre back in 2003.

PARKWAY DRIVEʼs 10-year anniversary tour is planned as a celebration for both the band and their staunch fanbase. Set to be held in some of the most intimate venues the band has played in many years, the setlists will be comprised of material spanning their entire back catalogue, including some older fan favourites that will be dusted off especially for the occasion and with both an over 18 (17th) and ALL AGES (18th) show, there is opportunity for fans of every generation to catch them.  

"We can't believe we lasted 10 years!" says vocalist Winston McCall "We're going to be taking it back to the Parkway of old. Classic venues, classic jams. Hang Me Out To Dry, because The Cold War Kids are coming to town. Catch them at The Gov, August 1.

Los Angeles four-piece Cold War Kids elevate their passionate take on indie rock with their emotionally-raw fourth album Dear Miss Lonelyhearts.

Formed in 2004, the band's breakthrough debut Robbers & Cowards was released to considerable acclaim in 2006. The darker Loyalty To Loyalty followed two years later, and 2011's Mine Is Yours introduced deeper anthemic qualities to the eclectic group's catalog.

Dear Miss Lonelyhearts, which features the rollicking, energetic single Miracle Mile, is Cold War Kids' first release with former Modest Mouse and Murder City Devils guitarist Dann Gallucci, who also handled its production alongside Lars Stalfors.

‘We were shaken up, ready to let certain songs go further than before by trying new styles and arrangements, while keeping others sparse and caring more about the finished product and less about how we got there,’ explains frontman Nathan Willet about the ten-track album, which was recorded at the band's private studio in San Pedro, CA.

Andrew Stockdale brings his solo effort 'Keep On Moving' to The Gov!

Andrew Stockdale returns to us with a surge of creativity in the shape of Keep Moving, his first self-produced studio album, under his own name.

Keep Moving is an honest exposé of Stockdale’s poetic point of view within his day-to-day experiences and relationships with people. It’s undoctored natural approach makes for a relieving listen in a hi-fi compressed supped-up pop-dominated landscape. Our culture is saturated with technology and sterile flawless lines, motion and sounds. Keep Moving is soulful and real, an organic wild rock record that doesn’t drag or go stale, it keeps on moving. The tracks spur imagery of riding in vintage cars, hanging on street corners, relaxing at bbq’s, dancing in malls, storytelling and daydreaming …

Stockdale spent the last three years writing in and out of studios and hotel rooms, recording with a variety of musicians and fine-tuning the record to a point where he felt he gelled with it.

“I’m really happy with it,” Stockdale says of the new album. “Totally, absolutely, I love it. I can live with it. I’ve listened to it 1,000 times.”

After nearly a decade on the road with Wolfmother, Stockdale settled down in the lazy beach town of Byron Bay, on the far eastern coast of Australia, a place renowned for its surf and creative eccentrics and spiritual energies. He now works out of his ‘shed’, making jam videos for his fans and preparing for his live shows. The Shed Sessions (available on his YouTube Channel) are a warm invitation to view Stockdale and his band perform both acoustic and electric tracks off Keep Moving. The process introduced “a lot more spontaneity in the sessions,” he notes. Of the “shed sessions,” Stockdale explains, “what I’ve done is filmed it in the sanctuary of the band’s recording space. You might see a dog, a surfboard against the wall. It’s a bit more random and it gives the viewer the experience of what it’s like to sit on a chair and watch while we play our songs.”

Wolfmother camp as well as new artists and crew that Stockdale met along the way. Some of them include: Ian Peres (Bass, Keys); Vin Steele (Rhythm Guitar); Elliott Hammond (Wurly, Harp); Hamish Rosser (Drums); Will Rockwell-Scott (Drums) and Dave Atkins (Recording and Drums). Keep Moving was mixed by Vance Powell at Sputnik Sound in Nashville, and the album was mastered by Chris Athens Masters in Nashville.

Stockdale admits there was pressure to continue playing as Wolfmother, a name created with earlier collaborators. “It was a name, a brand everyone knows. But I don’t feel comfortable playing as Wolfmother,” Stockdale says. “When you write a song, what’s on your mind comes out, what’s in your heart and soul comes out. It’s about your life experiences. I’ve been getting stuff off my chest, expressing ideas and experiences that are personal to me and I don’t want to keep then applying that to the Wolfmother name. I had pressure on my shoulders.”

Now there’s a new pressure -- facing the music world as Andrew Stockdale. “It’s a good pressure,”

Stockdale admits, “because it asks that question: is it any good? Do you like this music, do you like the film clips, the artwork. What’s it about? I’ve put my heart and soul into it, and I believe in it.”

For an artist with a Grammy Award, numerous ARIAs and a growing collection of platinum and gold certifications in the bag, Stockdale still has great expectations for his career. “My ambition,” he says, “is just to go wherever people like it. I just go wherever I’m invited. Every year I get offers to play in Europe -- it just happens again and again. I’ve been basing my plans around that. If I get offers in America, I’ll go there. That’s how I’ve been living, that’s how

I’ve been planning my life. When we put out Cosmic Egg, Europe loved it. It went massive in Germany and throughout Europe. It went top 20 in the United States. We followed it. We followed the demand. We’ll continue to do that.”

The first single, “Long Way To Go,” will be released as part of a 4-track EP entitled, Keep Moving (EP) out on April 26th, album out June 7.
