Peter Darwin, owner and operator of Fowler’s Live, announced today that he is developing a contemporary South Australian Music Awards event for November 2012.
Mr Darwin was involved in the establishment of SA's first Music Industry Association (SAMIA), and has worked in the Adelaide music industry for over 30 years. His varied roles include Tour Management for international acts including Keith Urban, Site Management for A Day On The Green, event work on the Adelaide Clipsal 500 Concerts, as well as operating Fowler's Live, one of Adelaide’s significant original music venues. Fowler's Live promotes most of its events as ‘all ages’ to provide young people with access to original live music, and to encourage audience development.
Darwin said, "it has been over four years since any sort of celebration of live original South Australian Music has been held and I felt it was a good time to try and generate some renewed interest!".
Darwin continued "the Awards will be a combination of public voted categories and industry peer group nominated and voted awards. They are not set up to be an essential guide to original music - but rather a recognition of the importance, diversity and vibrancy of the South Australian Music scene".
The inagural Fowler's Live Music Awards will present over 20 awards including Song Of The Year, Album Of The Year, Most Popular Venue, and Best Music Event. The Awards will be held at Fowler’s Live on Tuesday 6th November. A full list of 2012 nominees will be announced in August for online public voting throughout September and October.
