Voros were first up on the bill and they went apeshit! Former Double Dragon and A Red Dawn homies Joshy, Davin and Liam gathered up Cameron and Ty to form a sickening well rounded riot. Hard to believe it was only their 5th show. Playing songs from the Sky Burial EP(there are 3)set the tone for what was going to be an unbelievable night. "Death Throes" gets my vote for the 'fuck yeah award' for truly ripping. Sky Burial III is landing very soon so get on board. Thank you Ty for taking the time to say g'day. Happy birthday amigo. You fronted a band full of guns galantly.
This 5 piece from Sydney were very interesting to say the least. They change up styles with seamless ease. There was a sprinkling of Jazz in one of there songs that made me feel so good. It just came out of nowhere and then blended back in effortlessly. So smooth it was that I was questioning if I even heard it. Yeah, I heard it. Nice swan. I didn't know too much about these lads but you can guarantee I'll be at their "Quiet Waters" EP launch at Cavern Club next month. 13th of August friends. Don't be lazy...
I fucking love metal for so many reasons. For meeting dudes like Bryce, for the enchanted aroma of top shelf shampoo as hair gets flung about and for the blessing of seeing talented humans own their craft. Case in point, SE BON KI RA!
They've been owning it for some time now. And they are fucking ripping! Their following is massive and they never disappoint. Fun, full throttled bedlam. With new songs off their soon to be released cd "In The Wake Of Change" it was obvious to all that metal lives here. "Nailed Into Place" was a screamer!
New Paradigm. It's easier for me to write than it is to say. I'll get there as I'll be saying it heaps over the next month. Sam you are an unbelievable ax man. Lennie on the key board, James on bass and Brad on drums. This troupe is seriously gifted. To hear them is amazing but to see them play is just too good for words. Lennie and Sam swap up vocals while playing their instruments with speeds that my eyes could not follow. Shit was full on. Do yourself a favour and get Faultlines and if you missed them at Enigma fear not because they'll be playing with Dyssidia again next month at the Cavern Club. Raise your horns Adelaide because this town keeps putting out amazing artists.
Once again thank you to all the bands that played and a big thanks to Enigma for housing us all. Such a fucking great night.
Hope to see you again soon.
