All Time Low and All Year Round at HQ

Well September 3rd started like every other mid-week day for me, I went to work. But for a shit tonne of grommets it was the day that All Time Low came back to town. My first job for the morning had me driving past HQ to witness a 7am line up of teenage girls sprinkled in with a few fella's waiting for the doors to open. I stopped to have a chat to a few of them because I knew the gig was sold out and was thinking they were there so early for a chance to get a ticket that hasn't already been scooped up. Alas, this wasn't the case. All those kids had tickets, they just wanted to be the first through the door.

Respect!

Good on them because when I rocked up at 8pm later that night the line up strewn down and around HQ and spilled out onto North Terrace. So I did what every man in my age group would do, I went to the pub until that shit died down. A couple of Jameson's later and I stumble into the line up that is respectfully in the car park.

The only thing that bummed me out about the night was missing the first part of All Year Round's set. Pretty stoked to see Adelaide's own start the night off.  And I was pleased to be able to catch these kids before the tattoo's and various other vices get a grip on their cherub bodies. And I'll be fucking stoked to catch their act then too. Anyway, Jacqueline - you're beautiful and a great lead for this five piece. I'd love to say more about this group but this review ain't about them and it's my prediction that these kids will have plenty of dickheads like me writing about them in the near future. All Year Round, you killed it! Stay the course...

Righto, Baltimore's finest come out to bra throwing, shrieking bedlam! Starting off with Lost In Stereo was complete bullshit in the best way. These chaps have been playing together now for a decade and they truly know how to put on a show. Between songs Jack (guitar/backing vocals) kept us entertained with some bizarre slapstick that had the security thinking that the boy might be slightly touched. It's only offensive if you don't get it! I was amped to hear them play For Baltimore. Whenever a band pays homage to their hometown it's usually the ducks nuts. Gotta respect what got you here even if that place gave you consistent beat downs on the regular. Hell, we wouldn't be who we are otherwise.

But I digress, the lads played songs spanning almost all of the five albums that they have put out to date. Stella, Damned If I Do Ya, and Outlines were so good to hear live. 3/4's through the gig Alex performed solo with Remembering Sunday and I was thinking I'd fuck this guy if I wasn't married and a dude. Music has gotten me into so many weird situations friends, but I'm saving all that shit for my memoirs. So, after Alex swooned us all the rest of the boys jumped back out to finish us all off. Dear Maria was the end of it all and a fitting exit to the night. Thanks heaps for gracing our shores again amigo's, and Alex I'll see you after my sex change...
