Fear Factory and Twelve Foot Ninja at HQ

It's been less than a year since the Fear Factory boys were on our shores, but this time around we were promised a very special treat!

We were about to wittness the ground breaking Demanufacture album in its entirety, and to be chosen as the first country to
experience this just shows how much front man Burton C Bell and guitarist Dino Cazares love playing to australian crowds.

First we had Melbourne's Twelve Foot Ninja to entertain us.

Having not seen them before, I was curious to see what they had to bring to the party. The opening song had a reggae type riff that quickly morphed into a groove that showed these guys meant business!

With older fans singing the lyrics straight back to vocalist Kin, you could see they had many a fan in the crowd. Elements of Incubus, Faith No More and Machine Head came to mind thoughout the set, but with bass lines that hooked under your skin and pulled you in.

Horns were being displayed after each song and mine were added more then once!! I would say they won over some new fans this night.

With some time to kill between acts, it was a quick trip to the bar and a smoke or two then back inside for what we all came to see.

As soon as the lights went down and the title track Demanufacture started, the crowd erupted.

Burton C Bell (wearing a Godflesh t-shirt) was about to lead us on a trip back nearly 20 years and I couldn't wait for the ride. When the drums kicked in it was easy to see why Mike Heller was chosen to replace the original human drum machine Raymond Herrera. But oh man, that guitar sound, damn!!  It was like an eargazam with Dino pumping out that razor sharp machine gun attack on the senses.

The mosh was in full swing by the time Replica started and then it was just pure controlled chaos! I promised myself I would be joining them shortly!

Burton was a man posessed and I challenge anyone to fault him this night! Be it the clean vocal style or demonic cookie monster, he hit the mark every time!

Being a massive Industral fan, I was starting to lose my shit with New Breed being belted out.

THIS is what it takes to stay on top of your game for so long, and they were loving it!! Track after track of cyber industrial metal kept coming and when Pisschrist finished with Burton asking "Where's Your Saviour Now?" I knew we were getting to the end of the journey. I closed my eyes, listened to A Therapy Of Pain wondering where the encore would take us, and all I could think was 'Please give me something from Soul Of A New Machine'.

The first song down was Shock, the opening track from the Obsolete album, followed by Edgecrusher then What Will Become, I was starting to think there would be no tracks from SOANM, but after Archetype, I heard the sound I was waiting for as Martyr started.

I would give my right nut to see the whole Soul Of A New Machine played live, but it would be worth it! I couldnt hold it any longer.... into the pit!!  An amazing night was had by all and if you missed it,  all i can say is 'Suffer bastard!!'
